When creating the game, the Swedish DICE team set a specific task for themselves. The developers aimed for destructible environments, superior lighting inside buildings and outdoor areas.

To complete the task, the DICE team used a ready-made solution created by the Geomerics studio. Enlighten's development has proven itself excellently on all platforms (computers, PS3 and Xbox 360).

Pros of Leveraging Innovation in Battlefield 3

Through the use of innovative technologies, Battlefield 3 has global illumination. It simulated bounces of color from bright objects. On the plus side, the DICE team used both dynamic and static lighting.

The developers did everything possible to make the players completely merge with the plot of the game:
